Guidelines for the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence
Use of AI Tools in Manuscript Preparation
This journal permits the use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based resources as support tools during manuscript development, provided that their use is ethical, transparent, and under the authors’ supervision. These technologies can contribute to activities such as improving writing, organizing ideas, revising text, and supporting the research process.
The use of AI tools does not replace the authors’ intellectual contribution, nor does it transfer any responsibility for the published content to the tools. Authors are responsible for validating the information presented, verifying the references used, identifying potential inconsistencies or biases, and ensuring that the manuscript represents an original scientific contribution.
Whenever AI tools are used in a significant way in the preparation of the manuscript, authors must disclose this use at the time of submission, indicating which tools were used and for what purpose. The use of tools intended exclusively for spelling, grammar, or stylistic corrections does not require disclosure.
When AI is integrated into the research’s methodological procedures, this use must be described in detail in the methods section, allowing for the understanding and reproduction of the procedures adopted.
Authorship Responsibility
Artificial Intelligence systems cannot be recognized as authors or contributors to scientific articles. Authorship involves exclusively human responsibilities, including responsibility for content, approval of the final version, research integrity, and adherence to the ethical principles of scientific publication.
Use of AI for the Production of Images and Graphic Elements
The use of generative AI tools to create or alter images, graphics, illustrations, or other visual elements in manuscripts is not permitted, except when these technologies are an integral part of the research method. In such cases, authors must provide sufficient information about the tool used and the process applied.
Any use of AI in the creation of the journal’s institutional visual materials will be subject to prior editorial review and must ensure compliance with copyright and usage rights.
Use of AI During Peer Review
Manuscripts submitted for review are confidential materials. For this reason, reviewers must not enter submitted texts, author data, or reviews into artificial intelligence platforms, thereby avoiding risks related to confidentiality, data protection, and intellectual property.
The analysis of articles must be conducted exclusively based on the knowledge, experience, and critical judgment of the reviewers, who remain responsible for the content of their review reports.
Use of AI in Editorial Processes
The editorial team may use AI technologies to support the journal’s administrative and operational activities, provided that measures are taken to ensure information security, document confidentiality, and decision-making based on human evaluation.
